How to Deactivate your FACEBOOK page
Sometimes Facebook can get to be a little too distracting and consumes a great deal of your time. Find yourself viewing the newsfeed or pictures when you really should be working or cleaning? Facebook serves as a great distraction at times but then also can be quite frustrating when you need to accomplish other things in life. Don't let it suck you in!! If it's time for you to step away from Facebook, read here.
I am finding that I am less and less attracted to visiting Facebook as time goes on. Initially, Facebook was intriguing to find friends/classmates/and co-workers that I had lost touch with. It was equally intriguing to share and view vacation photos of friends and family. But now, it's quite the opposite. I am actually quite annoyed by individuals that continue to post pictures of their "amazing" vacations and "amazing" family. Am I jealous? Maybe! Or am I just annoyed? Not sure!
The representation of pictures and comments posted are biased towards the image of a "perfect" life and "happy" life without any ups and downs. It may just be me, but I'm tired of viewing my friends' skewed postings of their lives. In general, most postings appear fake and a guise to cover their imperfect lives.
To me, it's the fakeness that is repelling. At times, I wish to deactivate my account to place myself far away from the "fakeness". And then at times I wish to reengage in Facebook. Thankfully, there is an option to temporarily deactivate your account without losing any past postings or past pictures. But keep in mind, there is NO way to permanently delete your account.
Instructions for deactivating your Facebook page temporarily are below.
How To Deactivate your Facebook Account:
-
Go to the Account Menu (top right corner)
-
Choose Account Settings
-
Select Security from the Left-Hand Menu
-
Click on "Deactivate your account"
Reactivation of Facebook Account:
You may reactivate your account at any time by logging in again with your password. Any activity (including any games you play associated with facebook) will automatically reactivate your account. For example, if you play Candy Crush and your Candy Crush account is linked to your Facebook page, then the act of opening the Candy Crush app will reactivate your Facebook page automatically.
Are you tired of Facebook?
Can I Permanently Delete My Account?
No, unfortunately, once you've created a presence on Facebook, you are a permanent fixture. Any pictures and or comments you have posted will always remain and become a property of Facebook.
I doubt you read the privacy settings when you signed up but Facebook does "own" you property (meaning pictures/tags/comments/images/etc.) So please keep this in mind when you decide to post something that you will later regret!
